Russia’s Trade with Cuba
In 2017, Russia’s trade with Cuba totaled $290,178,424, up 16.97% ($42,100,336) from 2016.
Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2017 totaled $276,583,592, up 29.50% ($62,999,917) from 2016.
Russia’s imports from Cuba in 2017 were $13,594,832, down 60.59% ($20,899,581) from 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Cuba in 2017 was $262,988,760, a 46.85% increase ($83,899,498) over 2016.
Cuba was Russia’s 91st largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 92nd in 2016), accounting for 0.0497% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0530% in 2016).
Cuba was Russia’s 77th largest export market in 2017 (just as in 2016), accounting for 0.0775% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0748% in 2016).
Cuba was Russia’s 112th largest supplier in 2017 (down from 95th in 2016), accounting for 0.0060% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0189% in 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Cuba
The major share of Russian exports to Cuba in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 62.04% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (63.62% in 2016);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 19.49% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (1.16% in 2016);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.66% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (7.74% in 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.94% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (3.99% in 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.07% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (2.79% in 2016);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.63% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (2.65% in 2016).

- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $17,947,958;
- Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $7,196,686;
- Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - an increase of $6,348,454;
- Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $6,175,750;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $6,005,749;
