Russia’s Trade with Abkhazia

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Abkhazia totaled $53,922,565, up 19.62% ($8,844,738) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $43,368,507, up 24.89% ($8,644,129) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $10,554,058, up 1.94% ($200,609) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $32,814,449, a 34.65% increase ($8,443,520) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Abkhazia was Russia’s 93rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 98th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0342% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0351% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Abkhazia was Russia’s 85th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 87th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0421% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0417% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Abkhazia was Russia’s 94th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 93rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0193% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0229% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $454,561;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $446,913;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $364,353;
  • Preparations of meat, of fish or of crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 16) - a decrease of $308,454;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $292,739;
