In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Ethiopia was $27,368,801, down 1.33% ($370,236) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $20,403,376, down 11.03% ($2,529,851) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $6,965,425, up 44.94% ($2,159,615) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $13,437,951, a 25.87% decrease ($4,689,466) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $20,652,921;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $117,789.

Russia’s Imports from Ethiopia

The major share of Russian imports from Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 95.06% of Russia’s total imports from Ethiopia (97.84% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 4.94% of Russia’s total imports from Ethiopia (2.16% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ethiopia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
