Russia’s Trade with Ireland

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Ireland totaled $422,516,206, up 16.63% ($60,235,527) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $149,711,937, up 55.45% ($53,404,463) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $272,804,269, up 2.57% ($6,831,064) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $123,092,332, a 27.45% decrease ($46,573,399) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Ireland was Russia’s 52nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 53rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2680% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2818% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ireland was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1453% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1156% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Ireland was Russia’s 34th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4996% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5882% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 44.98% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (39.81% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.83% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (31.02% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.61% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.72% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,354,896;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $2,830,455;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,085,834.
