Russia’s Trade with Jordan

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Jordan totaled $101,006,520, up 261.34% ($73,053,164) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $93,718,301, up 295.92% ($70,047,438) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $7,288,219, up 70.19% ($3,005,726) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $86,430,082, a 345.78% increase ($67,041,712) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Jordan was Russia’s 82nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 108th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0641% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0217% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Jordan was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 94th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0910% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0284% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Jordan was Russia’s 98th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 105th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0133% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0095% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Jordan

The major share of Russian exports to Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 26.58% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (14.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.42% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (29.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.41% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (8.76% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.05% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (5.82% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.29% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.21% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (0.54% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.53% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (1.03% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $21,339,546;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $3,637,950;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $2,601,667;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - an increase of $1,202,135;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,101,853;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $822,230;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $815,833;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $431,998;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $314,152.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $899,241;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $536,302;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $522,942;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $367,182.

Russia’s Imports from Jordan

The major share of Russian imports from Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 72.15% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (63.25% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 17.36% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (4.89% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.08% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (31.50% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,972,608;

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $58,212;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $23,722.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $512,989;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $68,048;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $41,791.
