Russia’s Trade with Mexico
In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Mexico totaled $662,923,764, up 37.94% ($182,352,061) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $460,809,895, up 40.59% ($133,044,909) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $202,113,869, up 32.27% ($49,307,152) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade surplus with Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $258,696,026, a 47.86% increase ($83,737,757) over the 1st quarter of 2017.
Mexico was Russia’s 42nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4205% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3738% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Mexico was Russia’s 40th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4473% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3933% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Mexico was Russia’s 42nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3701% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3379% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Mexico
The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 78.00% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (81.27% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.83% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (2.13% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.83% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (11.93% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.51% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.65% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

- Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $4,967,809;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,649,004.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $16,869,443;
