Russia’s Trade with Turkmenistan

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Turkmenistan was $75,356,381, down 22.93% ($22,421,529) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $48,750,470, down 38.34% ($30,309,512) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $26,605,911, up 42.14% ($7,887,983) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $22,144,559, a 63.30% decrease ($38,197,495) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 79th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0478% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0761% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 83rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 73rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0473% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0949% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 86th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0487% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0414% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Turkmenistan

The major share of Russian exports to Turkmenistan in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 41.34% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (21.65% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 26.25% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (29.94% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.93% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (9.92% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
