Russia’s Trade with Kenya

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Kenya totaled $110,982,094, up 41.81% ($32,719,531) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $79,277,328, up 89.61% ($37,465,571) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $31,704,766, down 13.02% ($4,746,040) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $47,572,562, a 787.39% increase ($42,211,611) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Kenya was Russia’s 82nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 90th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0649% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0560% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Kenya was Russia’s 80th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 89th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0719% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0498% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Kenya was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 75th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0522% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0653% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Kenya

The major share of Russian exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $329,117.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,963,566;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $6,014,361;
