Russia’s Trade with Portugal

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Portugal was $347,508,769, down 12.67% ($50,406,537) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $200,302,092, down 21.66% ($55,373,589) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $147,206,677, up 3.49% ($4,967,052) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $53,095,415, a 53.19% decrease ($60,340,641) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Portugal was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 53rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2020% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2722% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Portugal was Russia’s 60th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 49th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1785% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2995% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Portugal was Russia’s 49th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 52nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2459% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2338% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 78.62% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (84.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.80% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (11.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.57% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.57% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (1.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $57,868,929;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,592,470;

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.99% of Russia’s total imports from Portugal (20.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.17% of Russia’s total imports from Portugal (9.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
