Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $9,988,572, down 17.23% ($2,078,971) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $855,300, down 22.33% ($245,841) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $9,133,272, down 16.72% ($1,833,130) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $8,277,972, a 16.09% decrease ($1,587,289) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 137th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 131st in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0058% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0083% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 160th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 148th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0008% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0013% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 97th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 95th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0153% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0180% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $6,520.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $353,158;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $284,118;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $102,170;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $94,031.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.37% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.64% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $200,000;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $93,477;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $54,075.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $1,930,335;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $217,825;
