Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $358,145,892, up 457.62% ($293,918,625) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $352,649,314, up 469.42% ($290,717,956) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $5,496,578, up 139.41% ($3,200,669) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $347,152,736, a 482.12% increase ($287,517,287) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Cyprus was Russia’s 63rd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 93rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1917% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0384% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 50th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 80th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2833% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0602% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 110th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 116th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0088% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0036% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 56.77% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (51.44% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 35.75% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.49% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.45% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (9.47% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.46% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (16.68% in the 4th quarter of 2017);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $165,686,131;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $123,726,180;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $4,146,617;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $2,671,273;
  • Zinc and articles thereof (HS code 79) - an increase of $1,774,592.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $3,090,572;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,991,923;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,061,022.
