Russia’s Trade with Finland

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Finland totaled $3,734,712,462, up 11.55% ($386,670,250) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Finland in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $2,856,476,719, up 30.05% ($660,034,794) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Finland in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $878,235,743, down 23.74% ($273,364,544) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Finland in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $1,978,240,976, a 89.33% increase ($933,399,338) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Finland was Russia’s 14th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 15th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.9989% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.0031% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Finland was Russia’s 14th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 15th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.2945% of Russia’s total exports (up from 2.1353% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Finland was Russia’s 17th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 13th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.4087% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.7915% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Finland

The major share of Russian exports to Finland in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 61.21% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (55.14% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.85% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (12.30% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
