Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina was $34,494,866, down 20.70% ($9,002,844) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $5,307,325, down 68.67% ($11,630,669) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $29,187,541, up 9.89% ($2,627,825) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $23,880,216, a 148.19% increase ($14,258,494) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 107th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0208% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0253% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 137th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 110th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0051% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0151% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 84th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0467% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0444% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 41.90% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (16.23% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 30.75% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (32.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $31,741;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $31,488;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $24,176;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $23,884.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $4,933,309;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,967,105;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $2,144,895;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,335,936;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $497,358;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $322,640;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $261,850;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $168,208.
