Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $74,617,292, down 43.83% ($58,231,881) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $42,824,900, down 54.35% ($50,982,737) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $31,792,392, down 18.57% ($7,249,144) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $11,032,508, a 79.86% decrease ($43,733,593) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Colombia was Russia’s 92nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 80th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0450% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0772% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 78th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0414% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0836% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 78th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0508% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0652% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 60.84% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (24.71% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.22% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (5.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.76% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (13.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.61% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (50.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,362,215;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - an increase of $1,160,938;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,020,257;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $657,485;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $8,401,424;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $1,555,522;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $916,499;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $573,411;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $267,506;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $218,033;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $194,929;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $147,234;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $137,729.
