Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $1,254,672,654, up 10.41% ($118,310,109) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $1,187,786,492, up 11.86% ($125,924,262) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $66,886,162, down 10.22% ($7,614,153) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $1,120,900,330, a 13.52% increase ($133,538,415) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Greece was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 30th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.7564% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6604% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Greece was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 26th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.1496% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.9464% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Greece was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 61st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1069% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1244% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 92.98% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (91.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.02% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (4.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (2.46% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $134,794,089;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $5,520,495.
