Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $32,652,992, up 27.49% ($7,040,128) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $29,181,610, up 42.19% ($8,659,185) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $3,471,382, down 31.81% ($1,619,057) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $25,710,228, a 66.60% increase ($10,278,242) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Guatemala was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 120th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0197% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0149% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Guatemala was Russia’s 102nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 106th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0282% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0183% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Guatemala was Russia’s 116th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 105th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0055% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0085% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 48.75% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (88.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 43.37% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (2.26% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.25% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (3.82% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.52% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (3.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.07% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (1.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $12,014,478;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $455,566;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $174,571;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $147,197.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,914,990;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $296,527.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.57% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (99.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.39% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (0.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $272,528;

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $69,910;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - an increase of $30,593;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $24,936.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $1,743,818;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $697,036;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $190,323;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $10,982.
