Russia’s Trade with Italy

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Italy was $6,351,280,481, down 10.35% ($733,134,621) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $3,510,641,055, down 20.63% ($912,768,855) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $2,840,639,426, up 6.75% ($179,634,234) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $670,001,629, a 61.98% decrease ($1,092,403,089) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Italy was Russia’s 6th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.8290% of Russia’s total trade (down from 4.1171% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Italy was Russia’s 8th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 7th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.3977% of Russia’s total exports (down from 3.9426% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Italy was Russia’s 5th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.5415% of Russia’s total imports (up from 4.4442% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Italy

The major share of Russian exports to Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.07% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (87.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.64% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (7.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 4.76% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (0.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (1.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
