Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $4,860,252, down 51.34% ($5,128,320) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $30,263, down 96.46% ($825,037) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $4,829,989, down 47.12% ($4,303,283) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $4,799,726, a 42.02% decrease ($3,478,246) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.27% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (1.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $25,036;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $4,227.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $837,267;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $8,560;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $8,473.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.22% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $72,102;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $15,576.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $3,486,474;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $695,227;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $200,000;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $19,825.
