Russia’s Trade with Costa Rica

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Costa Rica was $38,207,523, down 17.62% ($8,173,252) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $3,259,196, down 55.33% ($4,036,265) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $34,948,327, down 10.58% ($4,136,987) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $31,689,131, a 0.32% decrease ($100,722) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $2,374,259;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,347,111;

Russia’s Imports from Costa Rica

The major share of Russian imports from Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 72.85% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (79.61% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 24.62% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (17.83% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Costa Rica in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
