Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $682,071,189, down 18.08% ($150,512,178) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $222,004,904, down 38.38% ($138,277,085) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $460,066,285, down 2.59% ($12,235,093) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $238,061,381, a 112.52% increase ($126,041,992) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Indonesia was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 40th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3792% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4456% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Indonesia was Russia’s 60th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 49th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1985% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2894% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Indonesia was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 29th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.6763% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7576% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.13% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (25.47% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.70% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (21.67% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 20.48% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (10.15% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.59% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (33.09% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.76% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (4.12% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.45% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.28% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $2,395,374;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,359,629;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $1,034,818;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $749,906;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $744,733;
  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - an increase of $698,668.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $97,073,597;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $44,997,973;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $25,261,469;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $8,073,980;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $2,616,913;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,631,778;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,604,493;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $810,089;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $732,641.
