Russia’s Trade with Spain

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Spain totaled $1,672,099,230, up 29.90% ($384,906,758) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Spain in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $678,133,429, up 48.81% ($222,425,462) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Spain in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $993,965,801, up 19.54% ($162,481,296) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Spain in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $315,832,372, a 15.95% decrease ($59,944,166) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Spain was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 29th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9296% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6889% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Spain was Russia’s 35th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 42nd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.6063% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3661% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Spain was Russia’s 18th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 19th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.4611% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3337% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Spain

The major share of Russian exports to Spain in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 62.28% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (61.30% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.58% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (7.29% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.57% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (12.89% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.89% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (9.81% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.85% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (2.31% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $3,101,254;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Spain in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $9,826,837;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $5,079,358;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $4,009,238;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $3,887,662;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $3,049,397.
