Russia’s Trade with Sudan

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Sudan was $62,846,888, down 45.70% ($52,886,546) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $62,842,027, down 45.65% ($52,792,384) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Sudan in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $4,861, down 95.09% ($94,162) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sudan in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $62,837,166, a 45.61% decrease ($52,698,222) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Sudan was Russia’s 94th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 84th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0349% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0619% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 78th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 77th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0562% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0929% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 181st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 157th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0002% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Sudan

The major share of Russian exports to Sudan in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 89.45% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (85.76% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.52% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (2.83% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.36% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (1.65% in the 4th quarter of 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $48,515,559;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $7,496,925;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,045,108;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $864,991;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $481,822;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $400,443;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $328,903;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $263,634.
