Russia’s Trade with Cambodia

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Cambodia totaled $57,660,545, up 3.11% ($1,739,081) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $940,241, down 34.05% ($485,394) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $56,720,304, up 4.08% ($2,224,475) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $55,780,063, a 5.11% increase ($2,709,869) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Cambodia was Russia’s 89th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 93rd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0406% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0355% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Cambodia was Russia’s 150th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 149th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0011% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0014% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Cambodia was Russia’s 69th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1067% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1027% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Cambodia

The major share of Russian exports to Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 35.97% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (42.07% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 34.63% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (23.43% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.53% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (12.51% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.85% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (6.45% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.83% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (1.93% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Cambodia (8.61% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $92,019;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $62,448;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $49,708;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $36,962;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $14,566;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $7,790.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $373,715;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - a decrease of $122,804;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $100,405;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $55,711;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $54,171;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $52,946.

Russia’s Imports from Cambodia

The major share of Russian imports from Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 95.01% of Russia’s total imports from Cambodia (93.72% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.76% of Russia’s total imports from Cambodia (1.89% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.96% of Russia’s total imports from Cambodia (1.16% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Cambodia in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of leather; saddlery and harness; travel goods, handbags and similar containers; articles of animal gut (other than silkworm gut) (HS code 42) - a decrease of $316,934;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $208,558;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $172,042.
