Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $1,043,906,237, up 4.52% ($45,116,676) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $997,600,638, up 5.24% ($49,634,277) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $46,305,599, down 8.89% ($4,517,601) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $951,295,039, a 6.04% increase ($54,151,878) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Greece was Russia’s 29th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 33rd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.7344% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6345% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Greece was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 26th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.1211% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.9082% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Greece was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 71st in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0871% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0958% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 94.88% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (92.54% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.33% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (0.17% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.32% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (4.67% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.86% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.18% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $68,979,266;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $12,232,205.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $17,176,162;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $9,132,430;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $6,168,369.
