Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg totaled $63,041,950, up 13.77% ($7,632,068) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $14,683,633, up 39.23% ($4,137,156) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $48,358,317, up 7.79% ($3,494,912) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $33,674,684, a 1.87% decrease ($642,244) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 87th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 94th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0444% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0352% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 106th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 116th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0165% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0101% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 73rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0910% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0846% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.95% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (65.54% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.99% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (18.14% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.33% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (9.98% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.27% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (3.00% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.92% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (2.89% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,870,492;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,156,506;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $222,637.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $676,297;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $169,530;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $158,999;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $117,309.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

The major share of Russian imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 34.94% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (31.34% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 31.85% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (43.69% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.05% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (9.66% in the 1st quarter of 2019);

  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - an increase of $473,672;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $362,748;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $242,244.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $696,768;
