Russia’s Trade with Peru

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Peru totaled $113,125,488, up 29.69% ($25,900,889) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $53,647,029, up 32.57% ($13,180,696) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 totaled $59,478,459, up 27.20% ($12,720,193) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $5,831,430, a 7.32% decrease ($460,503) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Peru was Russia’s 81st largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 82nd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0796% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0554% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Peru was Russia’s 81st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 86th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0603% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0388% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Peru was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 73rd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1119% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0882% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 67.34% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (48.33% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.65% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (15.76% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.48% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (7.08% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.69% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (3.05% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (24.32% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $13,712,005;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $7,386,003;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,540,148;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $486,332;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $410,288;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $316,391;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $272,457.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $8,660,155;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,315,903;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $786,218;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $543,566;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $216,514;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - a decrease of $208,544.

Russia’s Imports from Peru

The major share of Russian imports from Peru in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 89.19% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (88.90% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.44% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (5.32% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.27% of Russia’s total imports from Peru (1.25% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
