Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 1st quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Uruguay was $45,912,778, down 11.82% ($6,154,193) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $7,478,387, down 0.30% ($22,584) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 were $38,434,391, down 13.76% ($6,131,609) from the 1st quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 was $30,956,004, a 16.48% decrease ($6,109,025) over the 1st quarter of 2019.

Uruguay was Russia’s 94th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 96th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0323% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0331% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Uruguay was Russia’s 122nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2020 (up from 123rd in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0084% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0072% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Uruguay was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2020 (down from 75th in the 1st quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0723% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0840% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 76.61% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (79.58% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 11.17% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (13.05% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 4.95% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.10% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (3.15% in the 1st quarter of 2019);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $453,250;

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $52,895.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,202,264;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $596,704;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $110,974.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 (and in the 1st quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 96.23% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (96.88% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.36% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (1.86% in the 1st quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.37% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (1.23% in the 1st quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2020 over the 1st quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $7,542,181;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $476,540.
