Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $58,362,599, down 37.91% ($35,630,685) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $33,291,936, down 39.99% ($22,181,036) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $25,070,663, down 34.92% ($13,449,649) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $8,221,273, a 51.50% decrease ($8,731,387) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Colombia was Russia’s 92nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 85th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0478% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0587% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Colombia was Russia’s 88th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 84th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0476% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0551% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Colombia was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 78th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0481% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0649% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 39.54% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (24.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 31.58% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (4.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.81% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (7.85% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.80% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (1.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.29% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (60.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $3,534,869;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $2,976,750;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,661,975;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,505,259;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,178,390;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $1,139,567;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $978,387;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $571,804;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $404,993;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - an increase of $125,850.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $32,419,409;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,777,309;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $1,246,202;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $324,572;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $297,755;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $150,705.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 86.63% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (90.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.32% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.98% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (5.92% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
