Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Cyprus was $86,916,833, down 36.86% ($50,749,245) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $82,873,168, down 35.42% ($45,452,828) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $4,043,665, down 56.71% ($5,296,417) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $78,829,503, a 33.75% decrease ($40,156,411) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Cyprus was Russia’s 82nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 76th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0712% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0860% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Cyprus was Russia’s 68th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 67th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1185% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1274% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Cyprus was Russia’s 111th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 97th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0078% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0157% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 85.48% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (85.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.36% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.54% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.24% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.17% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,171,049;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $1,144,886.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $37,999,444;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,744,143;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $3,004,703;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $579,577;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $442,987;
