Russia’s Trade with Ethiopia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Ethiopia was $7,068,262, down 49.67% ($6,976,131) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Ethiopia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $1,878,959, down 74.44% ($5,470,879) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Ethiopia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $5,189,303, down 22.48% ($1,505,252) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Ethiopia went from a surplus of $655,283 in the 2nd quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $3,310,344 in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Ethiopia was Russia’s 132nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 131st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0058% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0088% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Ethiopia was Russia’s 137th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 126th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0027% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0073% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Ethiopia was Russia’s 105th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 104th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0100% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0113% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Ethiopia

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $6,295,791;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $689,867;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $128,263;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $19,864;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $13,391.

Russia’s Imports from Ethiopia

The major share of Russian imports from Ethiopia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
