Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $519,839,594, down 8.47% ($48,130,882) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $115,578,668, down 25.23% ($39,002,880) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $404,260,926, down 2.21% ($9,128,002) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $288,682,258, a 11.54% increase ($29,874,878) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Indonesia was Russia’s 42nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 46th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4261% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3548% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Indonesia was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 63rd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1653% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1534% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Indonesia was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 30th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.7761% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.6968% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 38.47% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (34.10% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 27.57% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (21.22% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 25.81% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (31.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.02% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (10.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.87% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,699,734;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $485,590;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $432,666;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $411,039;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $379,384.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $17,994,275;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $10,618,807;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $4,636,529;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $4,568,253;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,601,581;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $1,265,205;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $832,590;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $414,623.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 58.80% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (48.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.41% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (11.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.24% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (18.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 8.81% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (12.62% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.86% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (2.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
