Russia’s Trade with Montenegro

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Montenegro was $5,114,528, down 72.42% ($13,427,625) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $960,470, down 91.02% ($9,732,451) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $4,154,058, down 47.08% ($3,695,174) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Montenegro went from a surplus of $2,843,689 in the 2nd quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $3,193,588 in the 2nd quarter of 2020.

Montenegro was Russia’s 141st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 123rd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0042% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0116% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Montenegro was Russia’s 147th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 117th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0014% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0106% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Montenegro was Russia’s 110th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 101st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0080% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0132% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Montenegro

The major share of Russian exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 77.18% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (6.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.68% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (2.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.02% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.92% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.11% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (0.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.04% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (86.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $83,944;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $17,101;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $13,590;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $8,531;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - an increase of $3,691.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $9,230,489;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $161,140;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $132,877;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $103,660;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $97,840;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $40,345;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $27,060;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $15,622;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $9,823;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $8,902;
  • Miscellaneous articles of base metal (HS code 83) - a decrease of $7,527;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $7,307;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $5,955;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $4,922;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $3,774.

Russia’s Imports from Montenegro

The major share of Russian imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 90.38% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (89.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.45% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (1.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.24% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (0.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $52,510;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $39,015.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $3,294,826;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $360,836;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $114,668.
