Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with the Philippines was $166,943,986, down 15.06% ($29,605,146) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $95,342,691, down 7.03% ($7,212,532) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $71,601,295, down 23.82% ($22,392,614) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $23,741,396, a 177.31% increase ($15,180,082) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

The Philippines was Russia’s 70th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1368% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1228% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The Philippines was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 71st in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1364% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1018% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The Philippines was Russia’s 64th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 62nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1375% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1584% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 50.91% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (9.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 35.27% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (70.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.72% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (10.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.82% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (5.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.44% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (2.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $39,332,202.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $37,675,070;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $4,936,557;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $2,255,872;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - a decrease of $541,423;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $484,076;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $295,617.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 83.70% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (78.34% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.57% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (9.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.75% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (6.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.55% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
