Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Tunisia was $118,577,672, down 34.03% ($61,162,143) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $101,055,833, down 32.15% ($47,873,352) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 were $17,521,839, down 43.13% ($13,288,791) from the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 was $83,533,994, a 29.28% decrease ($34,584,561) over the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Tunisia was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 72nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0972% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1123% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Tunisia was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (up from 65th in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1445% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1478% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Tunisia was Russia’s 87th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (down from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0336% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0519% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 66.14% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (81.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.74% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (2.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.00% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (13.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.17% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (0.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.67% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (1.97% in the 2nd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $9,362,465;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,865,243;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $740,611;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $549,905;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $418,924;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $360,942.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 over the 2nd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $53,581,179;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $6,768,914;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $2,263,012;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,062,050.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2020 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.72% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (6.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 20.91% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (16.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2019);
