Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $619,523,796, up 13.56% ($73,999,852) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $347,345,061, up 21.98% ($62,592,371) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $272,178,735, up 4.37% ($11,407,481) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $75,166,326, a 213.44% increase ($51,184,890) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 36th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 49th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4536% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3289% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 40th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 51st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4416% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2756% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 38th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4699% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4169% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 60.23% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (39.75% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 26.17% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (6.85% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.71% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (5.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.12% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (2.79% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (1.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.45% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (7.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $69,695,636;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $11,572,804;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $4,676,094;
- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $3,971,501;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $3,135,040;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $2,719,132;
- Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $1,565,817.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $21,423,376;
- Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $2,686,533;
- Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $1,389,827.
