Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Chile was $194,998,120, down 30.43% ($85,306,190) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $12,247,522, down 64.98% ($22,720,897) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $182,750,598, down 25.51% ($62,585,293) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $170,503,076, a 18.95% decrease ($39,864,396) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Chile was Russia’s 68th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 67th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1428% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1690% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Chile was Russia’s 119th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 96th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0156% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0338% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Chile was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 41st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3155% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3922% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 56.46% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (32.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 17.28% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (52.54% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.80% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.19% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (7.64% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.87% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.58% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $650,119;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $530,742;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $203,721;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $182,507;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $176,640;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $89,998;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $36,762.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $16,257,948;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,308,496;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,561,851;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,534,337;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $521,484;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $516,377;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $394,593;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $378,961;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $349,009;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - a decrease of $253,884;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $230,104;

Russia’s Imports from Chile

The major share of Russian imports from Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 66.54% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (71.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 27.81% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (5.26% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.33% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (9.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.70% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (13.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).
