Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Ecuador was $291,698,119, down 23.63% ($90,244,611) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $47,165,450, down 62.55% ($78,767,250) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $244,532,669, down 4.48% ($11,477,361) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $197,367,219, a 51.73% increase ($67,289,889) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Ecuador was Russia’s 58th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 57th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2136% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2303% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Ecuador was Russia’s 79th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 71st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0600% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1219% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Ecuador was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 39th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.4222% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4093% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 43.03% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (9.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 31.83% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (82.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.97% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (4.58% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.65% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (1.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.48% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (1.26% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $348,820;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $218,419;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $169,400;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $154,868.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $88,747,721;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $475,322;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $356,826;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $343,825;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $195,507.
