Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $36,429,072, up 11.56% ($3,776,080) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $29,652,866, up 1.61% ($471,256) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $6,776,206, up 95.20% ($3,304,824) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $22,876,660, a 11.02% decrease ($2,833,568) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Guatemala was Russia’s 104th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 111th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0267% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0197% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 102nd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0377% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0282% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Guatemala was Russia’s 103rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 116th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0117% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0055% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 93.47% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (43.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.63% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (48.75% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.42% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (3.52% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $427,796;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $292,196;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $229,220.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $13,492,853;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,090,682;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $334,280;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $152,050;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $109,575.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.77% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (98.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.00% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (1.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $3,379,100;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $657,360;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $532,653;

  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $88,848;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $83,122;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $54,316.
