Russia’s Trade with Ireland

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Ireland was $372,109,359, down 36.40% ($212,970,279) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $32,335,419, down 76.09% ($102,875,532) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $339,773,940, down 24.47% ($110,094,747) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $307,438,521, a 2.29% decrease ($7,219,215) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Ireland was Russia’s 54th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 46th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2725% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3527% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Ireland was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0411% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1309% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Ireland was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 30th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5866% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7192% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 51.86% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (5.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 26.77% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (71.27% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.60% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (2.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.49% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.31% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (0.69% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - an increase of $111,391.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $87,710,817;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $1,704,328;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $461,062;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $223,472;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $121,518;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $103,395.
