Russia’s Trade with Italy

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Italy was $4,835,252,311, down 23.87% ($1,516,028,170) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $2,194,486,036, down 37.49% ($1,316,155,019) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $2,640,766,275, down 7.04% ($199,873,151) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Italy went from a surplus of $670,001,629 in the 3rd quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $446,280,239 in the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Italy was Russia’s 9th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 6th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 3.5404% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.8290% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Italy was Russia’s 11th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 8th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 2.7901% of Russia’s total exports (down from 3.3977% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Italy was Russia’s 5th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 4.5595% of Russia’s total imports (up from 4.5415% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Italy

The major share of Russian exports to Italy in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 79.84% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (81.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.51% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (9.64% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
