Russia’s Trade with Malta

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Malta was $437,576,067, down 52.31% ($479,965,135) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $430,406,564, down 52.83% ($482,077,724) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $7,169,503, up 41.78% ($2,112,589) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $423,237,061, a 53.36% decrease ($484,190,313) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Malta was Russia’s 48th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 36th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.3204% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.5532% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Malta was Russia’s 34th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 26th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5472% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.8831% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Malta was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 109th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0124% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0081% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The major share of Russian exports to Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 99.45% of Russia’s total exports to Malta (99.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,308,978.

Russia’s Imports from Malta

The major share of Russian imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 80.26% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (78.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.69% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (20.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $4,964,330;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $264,895;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2020 over the 3rd quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $3,185,022;
