Russia’s Trade with South Africa

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with South Africa was $332,789,544, down 8.44% ($30,677,488) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $113,708,689, down 13.75% ($18,130,765) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $219,080,855, down 5.42% ($12,546,723) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $105,372,166, a 5.60% increase ($5,584,042) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

The major share of Russian exports to South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 63.23% of Russia’s total exports to South Africa (61.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.18% of Russia’s total exports to South Africa (20.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.39% of Russia’s total exports to South Africa (8.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
