Russia’s Trade with Turkmenistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Turkmenistan was $172,987,503, down 13.70% ($27,454,838) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Turkmenistan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $146,703,807, down 10.06% ($16,415,082) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Turkmenistan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $26,283,696, down 29.58% ($11,039,756) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade surplus with Turkmenistan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $120,420,111, a 4.27% decrease ($5,375,326) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 72nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1267% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1208% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 62nd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.1865% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1579% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 80th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 81st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.0454% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0597% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Turkmenistan

The major share of Russian exports to Turkmenistan in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 27.81% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (17.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 24.25% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (8.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 40.70% of Russia’s total imports from Turkmenistan (37.75% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.66% of Russia’s total imports from Turkmenistan (3.28% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
