Russia’s Trade with Vietnam

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Vietnam totaled $1,766,212,085, up 26.93% ($374,727,238) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $421,426,377, up 20.20% ($70,829,523) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2020 totaled $1,344,785,708, up 29.20% ($303,897,715) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $923,359,331, a 33.76% increase ($233,068,192) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Vietnam was Russia’s 17th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.2932% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.8389% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Vietnam was Russia’s 35th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 47th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.5358% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3393% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Vietnam was Russia’s 9th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (up from 13th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 2.3219% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.6641% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Vietnam

The major share of Russian exports to Vietnam in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 42.38% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (45.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.68% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (30.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.08% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (3.23% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 10.18% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (3.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
