Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 4th quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $1,065,295,274, up 38.94% ($298,584,619) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2020 totaled $862,819,203, up 52.93% ($298,609,731) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2020 were $202,476,071, down 0.01% ($25,112) from the 4th quarter of 2019.
Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2020 was $660,343,132, a 82.56% increase ($298,634,843) over the 4th quarter of 2019.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 31st largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2020 (up from 43rd in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.6574% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.4263% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 22nd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2020 (up from 41st in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.9137% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.5045% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2020 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.2994% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2977% in the 4th quarter of 2019).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2020 (and in the 4th quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 64.46% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (23.54% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.37% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (18.11% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.86% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (43.33% in the 4th quarter of 2019);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.58% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (5.07% in the 4th quarter of 2019);

- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $174,381,670;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $32,554,310;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $24,152,050;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $6,846,501.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2020 over the 4th quarter of 2019 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $155,531,473;
