Russia’s Trade with Algeria

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Algeria was $241,357,961, down 28.83% ($97,771,510) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $238,308,047, down 29.03% ($97,484,378) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $3,049,914, down 8.60% ($287,132) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $235,258,133, a 29.24% decrease ($97,197,246) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Algeria was Russia’s 64th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 56th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1562% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2386% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Algeria was Russia’s 50th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 44th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.2583% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3774% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Algeria was Russia’s 115th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 113th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0049% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0063% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Algeria

The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 36.69% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (15.05% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.22% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (13.08% in the 1st quarter of 2020);

  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - an increase of $1,234,565;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,091,429;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,055,104;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $857,579;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $769,651.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $46,652,676;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $34,046,623;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $21,064,123;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $16,869,038;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $13,878,411;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $2,829,920;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,494,606;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $774,525.
