Russia’s Trade with Germany
In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Germany totaled $11,696,915,161, up 8.02% ($867,995,622) from the 1st quarter of 2020.
Russia’s exports to Germany in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $5,845,333,830, up 4.79% ($267,011,285) from the 1st quarter of 2020.
Russia’s imports from Germany in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $5,851,581,331, up 11.45% ($600,984,337) from the 1st quarter of 2020.
Russia’s trade balance with Germany went from a surplus of $327,725,551 in the 1st quarter of 2020, to a deficit of $6,247,501 in the 1st quarter of 2021.
Germany was Russia’s 2nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 7.5681% of Russia’s total trade (down from 7.6185% in the 1st quarter of 2020).
Germany was Russia’s 3rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 6.3359% of Russia’s total exports (up from 6.2691% in the 1st quarter of 2020).
Germany was Russia’s 2nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 9.3928% of Russia’s total imports (down from 9.8773% in the 1st quarter of 2020).
Russia’s Exports to Germany
The major share of Russian exports to Germany in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 80.79% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (81.73% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
- Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 5.27% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (4.56% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.85% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (4.85% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.42% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (3.20% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.27% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (2.04% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
