Russia’s Trade with Ireland

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Ireland totaled $546,407,063, up 20.39% ($92,543,145) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $100,085,795, up 7.97% ($7,390,263) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $446,321,268, up 23.58% ($85,152,882) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $346,235,473, a 28.96% increase ($77,762,619) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Ireland was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (up from 49th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.3535% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3193% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Ireland was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 69th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1085% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1042% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Ireland was Russia’s 28th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (up from 32nd in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.7164% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.6794% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.64% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (74.88% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.94% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (18.19% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.10% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.87% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.90% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (2.89% in the 1st quarter of 2020);

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,770,855;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $1,020,375;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $909,305.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $33,742,452;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $763,165;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $653,971;
