Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Lebanon totaled $126,360,524, up 293.95% ($94,285,266) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $124,521,456, up 318.05% ($94,735,487) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $1,839,068, down 19.67% ($450,221) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $122,682,388, a 346.17% increase ($95,185,708) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Lebanon was Russia’s 78th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (up from 106th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0818% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0226% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Lebanon was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (up from 90th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.1350% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0335% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Lebanon was Russia’s 125th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 119th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0030% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0043% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 73.27% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (38.46% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 22.05% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (47.20% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.43% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (11.11% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.63% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (1.98% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $79,782,650;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $10,122,172;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $2,950,621;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $742,538;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $592,680.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $602,010.

Russia’s Imports from Lebanon

The major share of Russian imports from Lebanon in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 63.73% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (61.67% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.33% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (8.62% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.73% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (6.55% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.79% of Russia’s total imports from Lebanon (9.80% in the 1st quarter of 2020);
