Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 1st quarter of 2021, Russia’s trade with Mozambique was $12,186,379, down 17.20% ($2,531,034) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 were $4,231,233, down 38.20% ($2,615,575) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 totaled $7,955,146, up 1.07% ($84,541) from the 1st quarter of 2020.

Russia’s trade deficit with Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 was $3,723,913, a 263.74% increase ($2,700,116) over the 1st quarter of 2020.

Mozambique was Russia’s 130th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 121st in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0079% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0104% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Mozambique was Russia’s 138th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 123rd in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0046% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0077% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Mozambique was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2021 (down from 99th in the 1st quarter of 2020), accounting for 0.0128% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0148% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $191,704;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $26,064.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $5,792,825;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $248,302;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $46,013.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 (and in the 1st quarter of 2020) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.68% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (99.49% in the 1st quarter of 2020).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $209,503;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - an increase of $25,339.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2021 over the 1st quarter of 2020 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $57,754;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $52,368;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $39,950.
